The women starring in the brand new X-Men series are getting serious attention from some high caliber, fan favorite artists! Olivier Coipel draws X-Men #1. Today Marvel revealed David Lopez will reunite with writer Brian Wood on X-Men #4 with Terry Dodson joining the rotation.

The book stars Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Grey, Psylocke and Jubilee. Storm assembles this team when Jubilee comes back to the school with an orphan with mysterious potential. One of the mutants’ old enemies arrives asking for help from a bigger threat.

Wood and Lopez were an incredible team on the last volume of X-Men. This creative team delivered the BEST depiction of Storm in decades. I’ve been a huge Terry Dodson fan for years – you may best remember his Uncanny X-Men run with Matt Fraction.

X-Men #1 arrives May 29th.

Dark Iceman?

The many loves of Bobby Drake are reunited in a funny, heartbreaking issue with a hints of darkness in Astonishing X-Men #62. How can Logan defeat an enemy he can’t punch, hack or slash? Writer Paul Cornell and artist Alan David kicked off Wolverine’s new solo book with a deadly trail of alien carnage ripping through New York City in the first two issues. Can Nick Fury Jr. help Logan beat this impossible new foe in this week’s Wolverine #3.

Borrowing the words of a famous songwriter can Logan “get by with a little help from his friends?”

Wolverine is an X-Man, an Avenger, a Headmaster. Logan may have a reputation as a loner but this hero may actually be a super “people” person. Paul Cornell explains how Logan’s friends and allies will play a role as the series moves forward:

“He likes people. He’s actually a very strange creature. He chooses to keep himself grounded and involved with human beings, to be both an effectively immortal mutant with additional military implants, and this guy who likes bars and beer,” Cornell tells Marvel.com,

I think [he sees] them as fellow professionals, people who do the same job he does. “Hero” would be a difficult word for most of them. He takes responsibility, I think, and he likes the company of others who do the same, particularly Continue reading

courtesy 20th Century Fox

The Wolverine is ready to fight and slash its way to box-office domination later this summer! Hugh Jackman reprises his role as the fan favorite X-Man in a story set in Japan in which Logan faces Silver Samurai, Viper and a whole lot of (soon to be dead) ninjas!. AMC Theaters shared this exclusive CinemaCon footage of Wolverine in action via YouTube. Enjoy but watch for a certain character that came as a surprise to us!

The Wolverine opens July 26th. What did you think? The big burning question: is the Silver Samurai a giant robot, a mutant inside the robot or is have the screenwriters played with the villain’s powers to make him grow (like Pym particles?)
