Marvel heroes dominated the movie box-office. 2014 is the year Marvel really went into orbit with a ragtag bunch of “losers” who injected new excitement into their cinematic universe.

Here are great gifts for Marvel fans inspired by this year’s hits.

Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvel’s biggest gamble yet with little known heroes who aren’t really superheroes. Chris Pratt was Peter Quill/Star-Lord who assembled Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot into unlikely heroes against the Ronan the Accuser. Writer/director James Gunn gave fans a Star Wars for the Marvel Universe. The film also introduced the Nova Corps, Nebula and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film is a critical stop on the road to Avengers: The Infinity War I, II. Continue reading

We saw it coming from previews but the debut of KLUH in AXIS #4 was still a shocker and a puzzler.

Bruce Banner’s inner monster has evolved into many incarnations from the gray “Joe Fixit” of Vegas to the Incredible monster to my favorite – Banner in control of Hulk’s body and running the Pantheon from the Peter David era.

In the Hulk by Gerry Duggan it’s Doc Green in control.

But this week KLUH emerged! Continue reading

Gerry Duggan kicked off his Hulk run by unleashing a new persona from within the Green Goliath.

Doc Green is ready for SMASH the Marvel Universe with his enhanced muscles and mind.

In Hulk #5 Duggan and artist Mark Waid introduced an Extremis enhanced Hulk who may be smarter than Bruce Banner and in complete control of his powerhouse body.

Doc Green may remind you of the Hulk when he ran the Pantheon. Bruce Banner was in control of the Hulk’s body in that run by Peter David that also introduced the grey, cunning “Joe Fix-it” persona. Continue reading

Marvel’s main event for 2014 is a showdown between Avengers and X-Men vs. the Red Onslaught in AXIS. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Children of the Atom must be ready to rumble with a reborn Red Skull armed with the powers of Professor X’s brain.

The March to AXIS begins in multiple titles including Uncanny Avengers and Captain America. Writer Rick Remender and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort shared new cover art from Jim Cheung while answering fan questions about Act Two in a special Marvel live event. Continue reading
