Idris Elba was powerhouse as the noble guardian of the rainbow bridge in Thor. Heimdall will have a bigger role in Thor: The Dark World.
“In the new film we’re going to get to know Heimdall the Asgardian a bit better, and we’re going to get to know Asgard a bit better,” Elba told Examiner. “I can’t say too much, but the expansion of Thor in his world is going to be huge.”
Elba’s reflected on his role in the first film.
”My part was very small and functional in the first film, but I still felt very privileged to play him — especially since Heimdall looks a certain way and has a Nordic lineage — and here I was playing this character and bringing him to life in a different way,” Elba said. “It felt quite groundbreaking to be a part of that.”
Thanks to Digital Spy.
I applaud the creators for having diversity in Asgard. The Vikings may have worshipped them but they doesn’t mean everyone in the Nine Realms had to look Nordic. I would love to see Amora the Enchantress in a Thor sequel given her romantic ties to Heimdall and Thor.
I still hope to see Elba portray the Black Panther in solo movie or in an Avengers sequel.
