Uncanny Avengers writer Rick Remender, Cable and X-Force writer Dennis Hopeless, X-Factor writer Peter David and X-Men Editor Nick Lowe reveal the future of the mutant books in the Marvel Now at New York Comic Con.
Sam Humphries and Ron Garney relaunch Uncanny X-Force in 2013 with Psylocke as leader and Storm sporting her mohawk again. Betsy and Ororo are joined by Spiral, and Puck. The first villain the team faces will be Bishop as seen on the cover. I’m loving the new uniforms.
Editor Nick Lowe describes Uncanny X-Force as “David Lynch if he directed a James Bond movie.”
Psylocke will be dealing with the after effects of Remender’s final arc – Final Execution.
Cable and X-Force will see Nathan, Domino, Colossus, Forge and Dr. Nemesis branded as terrorists and on the run. Nick Lowe said the team will have the Uncanny Avengers on their trail.
“We’re taking all the cool badass stories that happened in the ’90s and wrapped it up in one big last score,” said Hopeless.
“Cable wants to do one last thing before he retires, which snowballs into a whole confluence of events,” he explains.
Hope’s story didn’t end with AvX. Nick Lowe said watch for her in Cable and X-Force.
X-Factor #250 will be Peter David’s 100th consecutive issue. The writer will kick off a new storyline called the Hell on Earth War. David teases that everyone in the Marvel Universe will be after X-Factor after this story.
Astonishing X-Men will continue with Marjorie Liu writing and new artist Gabriel Hernandez Walta. Liu revealed there are plans for Jubilee and in arc focusing on Warbird starting in January.
Let’s talk about the cover to All-New X-Men #4. A very Jean Grey centric cover featuring her entire history. In that new series by Brian Michael Bendis – the original five students of Xavier are brought into the here and now. They are not happy with how their lives and his dream turned out.
Could this issue be where Jean learns of her future/past including her role as Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, and wife of Cyclops?
Still scratching my head about how this book will shake out.
